reflective practice / supervision groups

Reflective, supportive spaces where staff can explore the emotional impact of their work and develop their practice. These groups are a regular (normally monthly) activity for staff in certain roles within an organisation.

They are particularly useful for staff who are not mental health professionals, but who nonetheless work directly with people in distress, crisis or conflict; living with mental ill-health or experiencing a mental health crisis; experiencing housing/financial/welfare difficulties; or otherwise going through an emotionally turbulent time. Supportive, confidential spaces where staff can explore and share the impact and experience of their work with others in similar roles. Sessions offer staff a safe space to process and reflect on how aspects of their work impact them personally and emotionally.

Staff are supported to share their experiences and to develop their knowledge and skills through reflection and discussion with others, using a model that differs from formal training. Read more…

A supportive space for managers and leaders to reflect together on the dynamics of organisational culture, leadership, and emotions.

Managers and leaders routinely perform their roles within pressured environments, with little time and space to think and reflect. In addition to the explicit elements of their role, managers and leaders also act (knowingly and unknowingly) as emotional containers for staff and the wider organisation, and play a pivotal part in the ‘emotional life’ of their workplace.

The impact of these elements of management and leadership are often unattended to, and may negatively affect wellbeing, job satisfaction and effectiveness. Read more…
