Become Mental Health Aware

This 4-hour course (5 hours if virtual) is most suitable for staff whose primary role does not involve them routinely responding to people who are experiencing mental health issues, but who would nonetheless benefit from building their awareness, knowledge and skills in relation to mental health.

This course supports a whole organisation approach to a mentally healthy workplace through developing understanding and changing the culture, as well as equipping members of the workplace community with skills and knowledge to look after their own mental health and respond to others who are experiencing mental health issues or emotional distress.

This course will give your staff:

  • An understanding of what mental health is and how to challenge stigma

  • A basic knowledge of some common mental health issues

  • An introduction to looking after their own mental health and maintaining wellbeing

  • Confidence to offer support someone in distress or who may be experiencing a mental health issue

delivery and format

  • 4-hour face to face course or virtual delivery of 2 blocks of 2.5 hours each delivered live via Zoom

  • Learning takes place through a mix of presentations, group discussions and workshop activities

  • Numbers are limited to 25 people per course so that participants are kept safe and supported while they learn (12-16 limit recommended for virtual delivery)

Everyone who completes the course gets:

  • A certificate of attendance to say they are Mental Health Aware

  • A comprehensive manual to refer to whenever they need it

  • A workbook including a helpful toolkit to support their own mental health
